My first role was in a mailroom with hundreds of letters piled high to open and sort! How the world has changed now. Over the next 23 years I worked my way through a range of roles to do with data and migrations, building deep expertise across data management, migration and the unique challenges facing not-for-profit organisations. It was the best education I could have asked for.

My first Salesforce migration was in 2012. Since then, I’ve performed over 100 — each one teaching me something new about what works, what doesn’t and what nonprofits truly need to set themselves up for success.

But it was what I kept seeing toward the end of those 23 years that led me to start Data Orchard.

Time and again, I watched nonprofits reject data migration proposals simply because they couldn’t afford them. So they’d attempt the migration themselves, or an implementation partner would do a basic lift and shift. Quite often months later they’d come back asking for help or even worse their staff would have to deal with manually fixing the same thing over and over. Organisations doing incredible work in their communities, held back by data problems that should never have happened.

That frustrated me deeply. And it drove me to do something about it.

I founded Data Orchard in April 2025 with one clear goal — to make sure no nonprofit misses out on expert data migration services because of budget. NFPs deserve access to the same premium, structured and experienced data expertise that large organisations take for granted. They just shouldn’t have to pay large organisation prices to get it.
